San Francisco Zoo

I recently visited the San Francisco Zoo. The selection of animals is incredible, and the access to them is fantastic. I could tell that a lot of thought was put into the different plantings, and they make the zoo very warm and inviting. Since it is less than 1/4 mile from the beach, I definitely felt that great ocean breeze. Some of my pictures are posted below:

Camping Trip to Pinnacles National Park, CA. 10/11/09

Below are the pictures from my overnight camping trip to Pinnacles National Monument, CA. I hiked up the trail 1.9 miles above the fog to the top in order to get these shots. The park has many other trails and caves which I plan on exploring at a later date.

Weekend Visitors

Recently my mom and niece visited from Western Kansas for a short weekend. We took them all over including Cannon Beach where we ate at Cranky Sue’s http://www.cannon-beach.net/crankysues/. The food there is fantastic. We then visited Multnomah Falls http://www.multnomahfalls.org/ and checked out Powell’s Books http://www.powells.com/ . Finally, we went to Pittock Mansion http://pittockmansion.org/ . It is incredible and a must see when you visit Portland. I have posted some pictures below:

The Chinese Garden

Recently, my boyfriend and I explored the Portland Classical Chinese Garden, http://www.portlandchinesegarden.org/. It is fantastic. I really don’t think I can describe it well enough, so I will just add the pictures below. Honestly, the pictures do not do it justice.

As you leave the gardens, look around at all the unique rock. This rock is very rare, and it comes from the bottom of only one lake in China. Actually, the rock has all been mined out of the lake.
